Pap Smear Preparation
A pap smear preparation is required if accurate test results are desired to determine the presence of a genital wart virus or vaginosis.
Douching and taking vaginal medicines as well as jellies and creams may also confuse test results, as these items may influence the size and shape of the cells. Restrain from sex within 24 hours before the test, as this can cause a few cells look abnormal.

Before having the test, women are advised to take certain steps to avoid false positive results. The procedure is best to perform when a woman does not have menses. True results are usually received within 12-14 days after the last menstruation day.
