Pap smear cells found that are abnormal will usually be accompanied by vaginal discharge or vulvar vestibulitis. This procedure consists of inserting speculum to widen the vagina and taking a sample of cervical tissue. The tissue is then placed on the glass slide and examined under a microscope for any abnormal changes in the size and shape. If the results are positive, follow-up care is necessary.
