Papillomavirus
Human papillomavirus can lead to cervical dysplasia, venereal wart and other problems.
It induces the growth of abnormal cells that can become malignant. This sexually transmitted disease is the main cause of cervical cancer. In many women, infection with certain types of hpv is the first step in the progression from a normal cervix to cervical cancer.

It usually takes many years for cancer of the cervix to develop. Without treatment, severely dysplastic cells penetrate deeper layers of the cervix and spread to other organs, causing invasive cervical cancer.
