Exam Pap
An exam pap smear detects abnormal cells on the cervix, but to perform cryosurgery or other operation the cervical area should be checked with additional pap smear and colposcopy.
This screening process aids in discovering potentially pre-cancerous changes when it can be easily treated and eliminated. Since it is not a diagnostic tool, further evaluation is needed when atypical cells are present.
