Slightly Abnormal Pap Smear

A slightly abnormal pap smear doesn't usually warrant a cone biopsy or colposcopy. Women diagnosed with ASCUS may undergo colposcopy, a close examination of the cervix under a microscope. A doctor is likely to offer Papanicolaou test every 4-6 months within the next two years to make sure the condition is gone and the cells are not malignant. A slightly abnormal pap smear doesn't usually warrant a cone biopsy or colposcopy.
