Pap Smear

A pap smear often shows evidence of HPV and cervical dysplasia. To increase the likelihood of detecting and treating early signs of cervical cancer, women are recommended to regularly see their doctor for testing. If any signs of atypical cells are present during the examination, a physician will recommend follow-up treatment. A pap smear often shows evidence of HPV and cervical dysplasia.

A swab of cells taken from a scraping of the outer lining of the cervix is placed in a special solution and examined under a microscope. This test can be used to differentiate between several stages of changes in cervical cell formation. A pap smear often shows evidence of HPV and cervical dysplasia.
