Hysterectomy Pap Smear
A hysterectomy pap smear is still reccommneded because vaginal dysplasia caused by HPV can still occur.
In the absence of other factors, vaginal cancer is uncommon. Thus, only women who have had their uterus removed due to previous diagnosis of carcinoma or have had a history of HPV infection are encouraged to continue with a routine cytology.
A hysterectomy pap smear is still reccommneded because vaginal dysplasia caused by HPV can still occur.

For women with a uterus removed, routine cytology examination is still favored. The usefulness is questioned since the purpose of screening is to detect an early phases prior to cancer. Vaginal cancer can advance more rapidly, thus, a positive cytology report may be aftermath. A hysterectomy pap smear is still reccommneded because vaginal dysplasia caused by HPV can still occur.
